Please choose a high quality, high resolution photo, preferably the original for best results. If the image quality is poor, that will directly affect not only clarity but also contrast/brightness and darkness of the engraving.
The upload process is to give the customer a general idea of what their plaque will look like after it is engraved. We only receive the rectangular photo from the customer, not the oval shape cropping. Therefore, we will make the final decision in regards to how the photo and text will be cropped, style, size, orientation, and layout, etc.
If you have trouble fitting the area that you want engraved inside of the "oval", please be advised that part of the subjects of your photo and other parts may be cutoff in the actual engraving. Typically, removing the background may yield better results for photos that don't require the "oval" shape as we are able to fit more of the photo, including the subjects in the photo, onto the plaque. You will be prompted if you would like to add a few add-ons, including "Background Removal" located below the "Add to Cart" button.

SIZES
Since our plaques don't usually come in perfectly round pieces, we use the longest side in determining our sizes as follows:
Large will be anywhere from 8-10” in height OR width(or both)
X-Large will be anywhere from 10-13” in height OR width(or both)

Disclaimers:
We are not responsible for any blurry images because the image uploaded by the customer is of lower quality; and because a lower quality image will directly affect not only clarity but also contrast/brightness and darkness of the engraving. We are also not responsible for any images that are cut off during the upload process made by the customer. Due to the personalized nature of the wood slice, making each unique and one of a kind, some plaques may show some color differences in the final engraving outcome, therefore, some of which may appear darker than others, and some lighter than others.
Because each photo that we receive is unique and varies in contrast, may therefore yield different engraving darkness or lightness.
We do our best to create a round cutout of your photo so that it matches the round-ness of the plaque. However, in an effort to not cut out the subjects in the photo, we may not be able to create a round shape and it may need to be in a more square form to allow all subjects to be seen in photo. If you wish to have a round cutout, please make sure to select a photo that has a lot of background and the subjects don't take up most of the photo space.
Please note the proof provided above is for general placement, tone appearance and detail. Actual piece will vary in darkness, clarity as well as placement as there are factors that create variation among wood engraved pieces including size of plaque being used, clarity of the original picture submitted and softness of wood. The final placement of the photo will be based on our best judgement so as to avoid cutting off the main subjects in the photo. Also, if we feel the photo needs the background removed, we may do so at no extra charge to the customer.
Clear Glaze finish: 8 out of 10 times, the clear glaze finish helps darken the photo (Unless the quality of the photo was poor in the first place which usually results in a lighter outcome and is not guaranteed to darken after clear glaze finish is applied). We cannot guarantee the Clear Glaze Finish will darken the engraving even if the photo was of a higher quality. Please refer to our "Refund Policy" below if you are not satisfied with your outcome.
Please note that we may apply our image enhancement tool to the photo(s) provided by the customer if we feel the outcome would yield best results per our judgement, even if the customer does not include the image enhancement product upsell in their order. The image enhancement tool may change darkness or lightness to the photo, as well as creating a blurred effect to some background if we feel it would yield better results.
We understand that we may make mistakes or the outcome simply didn't meet the customer's expectations. Therefore, we want to make sure that all orders are subject to a redo where the customer has the option to get their photo re-made at a 50% off discount. The photo must be the same used in the initial order unless My Outdoor Dad feels the original photo doesn't have the ability to yield standard results.
Depending on the volume of orders that have added Priority Processing, it is possible for those orders without Priority Processing to have a longer than normal processing time.
Per our Refund Policy, this is a non-returnable or non-refundable product (unless order has not been processed yet or order was damaged or lost in transit of which we would issue a redo to the customer, if the customer included "Shipping Protection" in their order). However, if they did not include shipping protection, they are entitled to a 50% off redo discount. Reach out to support@myoutdoordad.com to claim this discount.
